Microsoft Teams is adding new features. Here’s what to know about the update.
Even as companies anticipate a return to the office, Microsoft is betting on remote work and the role it will play in the future.
Microsoft is preparing to launch two new features for its Teams platform that will allow presenters to go into “Reporter” mode and “Side-by-Side” mode.
Each of these modes affects how users are able to give presentations using the app. Microsoft said the features will help presenters better customize their Teams feed to suit their individual experiences.
“Reporter (mode) places content as a visual aid above your shoulder like a news story. Side-by-Side (mode) displays your video feed next to your content,” Microsoft wrote in a statement.
The following updates will be part of a new entry in Microsoft’s product roadmap and are currently in development. The features are expected to be widely released by July 2021.
What are the new updates in Microsoft Teams?
Microsoft first revealed hints about the new Teams features back in March at its annual Ignite conference. The additional features were sold as a way to make remote presentations less rigid and better captivate an audience.
Microsoft is also rolling out a new feature called Powerpoint Live in Teams, which will allow users to share presentations without having to share a screen in Teams.
Users also will be able to have the option to receive notifications within the Teams app itself or through the Windows notification center when a notification comes in. This feature is expected to roll out by the end of the month.
